The pure draw stroke is just another way to move your boat perfectly sideways. This is a common stroke for pulling along side a dock or perhaps pulling yourself next to the shore. Variations of this stroke are the stern and bow draws. To perform a draw stroke, rotate ypur torso 90° so you are facing the side. Now reach out and dig your paddle blade in the water and simply pull the paddle back to the side of your boat. To recover, you can either lift the paddle blade out and reach out again or turn the paddle blade 90o and slice back out again.
