The process of becoming an ACA Instructor Trainer (IT) is challenging but well worth it. The SEIC has rigorous procedures to ensure all ITs are seasoned instructors and well versed in ACA policies and procedures. In addition, ITs must stay current in their chosen discipline and are great resources to Instructors on new curriculum topics. The SEIC Disciplines do an excellent job in providing skills/assessment course curriculum, the same goes for Instructor Candidate Criteria. Unfortunately, when you jump to the IT level, the documentation is much more sparse and relies more on a 1:1 mentoring process with an ITE in your discipline. The goal of this Trainers Manual is to provide some consistent guidance to both ITs and ITEs.
Here's a breakdown of the additional material IT's must master:
- Demonstrate knowledge of ACA/SEIC Policies & Procedures
