The focus of this class is rescue skills - getting the victim out of harms way. Once the victim is in a safe place, they may require medical assistance. First Aid is another specialized skill. The American Red Cross has great CPR and First Aid classes. Many employers schedule onsite training and I highly recommend taking advantage of these training opportunities.
The ACA SWR class covers a wide body of knowledge over a two day period. There really isn't time to cover First Aid topics and do this subject any justice. A good way to think of SWR is preventing injury and getting injured victims to a safe and stable location where First Aid can be rendered effectively. In addition to taking rescue training, it is definitely a good idea to follow-up with quality First Aid Training.
